If the Dive Shop you are doing your course with does not give you manuals to KEEP then they are breaking standards, What other standards will they break during your course?
Our Service:
In just a few days you will become a fully certified Open Water Scuba Diver.
AN OPEN WATER COURSE is your first step into the world of Recreational / Sport Diving. We guarantee the best Professional Instruction and service to you, whatever your needs. Our goal is to make you more than just a diver. We will put in the extra time needed for you to obtain proper training and skills so your diving will be more enjoyable, safer and easier. We will give you shore dives and boat dives during your course and take you slowly and positively along creating a level of comfort for you to enjoy your diving, no stress.
The OPEN WATER COURSE is structured to make it easy for anyone of reasonable health to learn how to dive. Our dive course is skill based NOT time based which means we will spend the time with you to gain those skills.
There are no "fixed" schedules and we will do our best to run the course when YOU want. Courses can be run over weekdays, weekends or evenings.
You will be given a fully illustrated Manual, Dive Planner, video or dvd when you book your course, so you can study at home before the course starts. The dive manual is yours to keep, free.
Your Training:
The course is divided into three main sections - academic, confined water and open water. The Academic portion is simple, read the manual and answer the review questions at the end of each chapter. These need to be filled out and handed in at your theory evening. This ensures that you have an understanding of the information given.
You are now ready for the pool sessions where you will learn the skills required to be a diver.

Although there is a serious side to the pool training we do have a lot of fun during the day.
The Open Water section is where we put into practice what you have learnt in the pool sessions. You will complete 4/5 dives over a 2 day period, usually 2/3 shore dives and 2 boat dives. On these dives we will go over what you have learnt in the pool and spend some time looking at the marine life that surrounds us.
Now for some paperwork to fill out and you’re done, easy. The training you have received ensures that you are competent and confident to dive virtually anywhere in the world.
What to Bring:
You need to bring with you two passport photos, swim wear for the pool session and a Medical Statement from a registered diving physician to say you are fit to dive. You will also need to return anything that has been borrowed during the course.
What's Next:

Having completed the OPEN WATER COURSE you are now eligible to start the ADVANCED OPEN WATER COURSE and take part in a variety of Specialty dive subjects on offer.
The Advanced course involves you in some of the most enjoyable diving activities while building on the skills learnt during the Open Water Diver course.

Do I need to buy anything else ?
No, everything that you need to complete the course is included in the price. We will loan you all the equipment, your manuals and dive tables are yours to keep. We have found that most people do tend to treat themselves to a mask, snorkel, fins and boots during the course. We do suggest you wait until after your pool class if you so desire to purchase equipment. It is during this time you find out what proper fitting equipment feels like.
How many people will be in my class ?
It depends on your choice of course, however our Open water classes have maximum of 6 students in the class. We like to keep our student numbers low so as we can concentrate on you during the course this greatly benefits you.
Do many women learn to dive ?
Yes ! About 58% of our students are women and the figure is growing all the time! We love having the ladies along; they are more intent on looking at the pretty stuff and generally having a good time and generally make better divers, so we go out of our way for our lady divers.
What is the minimum age ?
In Queensland the minimum age to take part in the Open Water program is 12.
Do I have to be a strong swimmer ?
No. Swimming is just a small part of diving. We look for you to be calm and confident in the water, not to have great physical prowess. We teach you to dive using your brain not your back. The equipment is there to make it easier!
When does the next course start ?
Our courses start when you are ready. Due to most people working week days, the majority of courses start on weekends, however we do run mid week courses. Once you have signed in for a course you will be given the course material and left to study at your own pace !
Do I have to pay for the course up front ?
NO. All we ask is for a deposit first and the balance is payable before the end of your course. We will not certify or send you out for your last dives until all payments have been made.
"Diving Is Difficult To Learn"
Wrong! Scuba Diving is easy and fun to learn! You can become a Scuba Diver in just two short weekends, or over a period of time that best suits you. So, come and experience the adventure!
"You Breathe Pure Oxygen and You Breathe Differently"
Wrong! The air that is in a Scuba tank is just that, air, only cleaner! When the tanks are filled, the air goes through a series of filters and removes all impurities so you end up with pure, dry, filtered air.
"Diving Is Only A Male Activity"
Wrong! The latest statistics show that 58% of new divers certified in the last year were female! This has been a growing trend for many years and continues to climb. At DiveXsite that ratio is even higher.
"Diving Is Isolated and Inaccessible To the Average Person"
Wrong! Anywhere you travel in the world, you can go diving. As a Certified Diver, you will be able to dive places like the South Pacific, Africa, Europe, Asia, Hawaii, you name it! If travel is not in your plans, that's OK because one of the greatest world class dive destinations is here, off Brisbane in Moreton Bay.
"You Must be In Above Average Physical Condition To Dive"
Wrong! All you have to do is be able to swim 200 metres and float for 10 minutes. We have trained people from all age groups - from 10yrs and into their 70's! Yes i had one lady who was 72yrs, a young guy who is a paraplegic, a guy of 74yrs from the states who was deaf, just to name a few. Yes these people passed their course and with some or little extra help.
"Sharks Are Deadly And Everywhere"
Wrong! Sharks are extremely rare. There are hundreds of different varieties of sharks in the world and only two or three that are known to be dangerous. Sharks as a species are timid, shy and unwilling to approach divers. With all the dives we do a year, only a few divers are lucky enough to even see a shark of any kind. Statistically speaking, there is a far greater chance of being hit by lightning or being hit by a coconut, than being attacked by a shark.
"It Is Always Cold Underwater"
Wrong! It is true that you lose body heat 20 times faster in water than in air. That is why, when we go diving, we wear exposure protection such as a wetsuit. The materials used in today's wetsuits are better than ever and are made with the most state of the art designs. With a suit that is comfortable and fits you well, you will be amazed how warm you stay!
"You Can't See Underwater If You Wear Glasses"
Wrong! For those of us who wear glasses or contact lenses, we have two options. You can wear your contact lenses just like you would on land, or, we can put prescription lenses into our mask. Lenses can be put into just about any mask made today.
